Peripheral Neuropathy

The type of neuropathy affects the legs and feet. There are rare cases in which the arms, abdomen and back are affected by peripheral neuropathy.

Autonomic Neuropathy

If the digestive system is affected by the type of neuropathy, symptoms include diarrhea, constipation and bloating. Other symptoms are heartburn, nausea, vomiting and feeling full after a meal.

Proximal Neuropathy

The type of neuropathy causes pain in the hips, thighs or buttocks. The pain is usually on one side in theaffected part of the body.

Focal Neuropathy

Focal neuropathy can occur suddenly and affects specific nerves. The affected nerves are usuallylocatedin the torso, leg or head. The type of neuropathy causes muscle pain or weakness.

Symptoms of the neuropathy include eye pain, double vision and paralysis of one side of the face, which is known as Bell’s palsy. Another symptom is severe pain in areas like lower back and legs.Still another symptom is the pain in the chest or belly that can be mistaken as appendicitis or heart attack.
